1960'sWrestling is introduced to the Cincinnati area.
In 1964, Coach Gary Cobb was the first coach at West
High. In 1966, Coach Stan Viner developed West
High's early wrestling teams.
Early 1970's
Coach Dick Murphy leads West High to several
sectional championships. Dick McCoy qualifies for
state and later becomes the coach at Elder.
1975-1985
Coach Pat Eagan leads West High to 10 consecutive
PHSL championships. Tay Boyle (1979) and Dan
Dudley (1981) both place 5th at state.
1986-1988
Coach John Simon (1980 co-captain and district
qualifier) assumes varsity coaching position. Mike
Lindsay (1986) and Scott Streckfuss qualify for
districts. The League is now named M.C.C.
1989-1991
Coach Ken Brater, a West High Alumni, assumes the
varsity coaching position. Derrick Eide qualifies
for district competition and sets a new record for pins
at West High (21).
1992
Coach Simon returns as varsity coach. Stephen
Moore qualifies for districts at 112 pounds.
1995
Wrestling cut from sports budget. Wrestlers
band together and earn the money to keep the team until
the end of the year. Eight wrestler finish to
season.
1996
Wrestling is reinstated as an official sport, in part
due to the dedication from the previous year's squad.
Fifteen wrestlers finish the season.
1997-2000
